This month’s Let’s Look link up explores what’s in my grocery cart!
I had so much fun linking up with Shay and Erika last month that I had to do it again this time around! 🙂 In case you missed last month’s link up, I shared little things I do every single day.
I go grocery shopping once per week (sometimes two times if I forget something on my list, haha!) and I must admit, it’s not my favorite task. I’m sure a lot of you can relate! Things have nearly doubled in the past year or so, and that’s without me switching up much of what we typically buy.
I used to go between three stores, but now I’ve cut it down to just Walmart and Kroger now that Walmart is finally carrying Kyle’s favorite salsa (I was going to Rural King for the salsa before).
I decided to break things up into my absolute must-haves for every single trip, and then the things I have to periodically buy that ended up in my cart for this post. I also like to grab some fun treats once or twice per month!
Be sure to let me know down in the comments, but let’s dive into the post first!
My Grocery Store Must-Haves
These are the things that without fail will end up in my grocery cart every single week! I also get ingredients specific to any meals I make to last for the week, like for lunches/dinners. You can see my pot roast in my grocery cart in the picture above, that week I made crockpot beef and noodles. They were delicious!
Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
My husband eats one pound of chicken per day (literally!) so there’s no way that I would list anything else first on here! He keeps me busy with meal prepping his chicken into containers so they’re easy to pack for his lunch, or grab-and-go on the weekends. He even takes a container with him when he goes golfing or fishing.
Cheese Sticks
We’ve went through the evolution of cheese around here – started with buying cheese cubes, then cheese squares, next it was string cheese, we tried Babybel rounds for awhile, Laughing Cow cheese, and now we have arrived at cheese sticks, haha! Kyle loves these Cracker Barrel Sharp Cheddar Cheese Sticks and has one in his lunch each day and we grab them for a snack when we’re around the house.
Milk
This is probably a staple on everyone’s list! We use it for oatmeal, coffee, cooking and baking.
Frozen Vegetables
These make easy and healthy sides for Kyle’s lunches, and I like some as a quick meal too!
Salsa
Kyle’s favorite salsa is Red Cactus (Medium) and it is so good! It’s a little sweet with a kick, and Carrie from Curly Crafty Mom was able track it down and she loved it too! I also pick up Tostitos Scoops to go with the salsa.
Chicken Seasoning
We alternate between Kinder’s Buttery Steakhouse Blend and the Walmart brand of Shake n’ Bake (it’s just as good and much cheaper!).
Mini Plain Bagels
These bagels are super soft and so quick to throw in the microwave! I prefer regular cream cheese spread with a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning and Kyle likes the strawberry cream cheese.
Fresh Veggies
I get different fresh veggies at the grocery store each week, but usually ranges from mini sweet peppers, cauliflower, cucumber, lettuce for salads, roma tomatoes and sugar snap peas. I much prefer our local farmer’s market when in season, but we just aren’t there yet!
Flat Iron Steak
This steak, it’s like a flank steak, has been added into Kyle’s weekly protein rotation. I like them too every now and again, and they’re super easy to cook in the air fryer.
Whipped Cream
I love to add whipped cream to my coffee in the morning, and the cats also get a little dab of it when I’m making my coffee.
Bread/Wraps
I usually have a loaf of bread in the freezer (learned that trick from my FIL!), but I also usually buy hamburger buns and some of the low calorie tortillas for wraps.
Periodic Buys
These are the items I buy every now and again in some variation!
Coffee Creamer
I can’t drink my coffee black even though I wish I could! I love coffee creamer and have always been a huge fan of NutPods. I have been switching it up with some other fun creamers lately and I’ve been addicted to The Oatmeal Cookie Creamer by Silk! Thanks to Carrie for the recommendation!
Sweet Treat
I like to have a little something sweet to snack on sometimes, but it varies what I get. Most recently with the Easter goodies, I picked up some Reese’s Eggs, Hershey’s Marshmallow Eggs and Easter Marshmallow Puffs. I love chocolate and marshmallow together!
Buffalo Chik Patties
Another recommendation from Carrie! Her Buffalo Chik Salad is absolutely delicious and always enjoy it when I make her recipe!
Ingredients for Gooey Butter Cookies
I love making these cookies to send with Kyle to share with his coworkers or to church potlucks, and sometimes just to eat here at home. Just don’t tell anyone! 😉
Rally’s Frozen Fries
I know frozen fries are not as good as fresh from a restaurant, but Kyle loves these Rally’s fries and they are really good for a salty snack or to pair with a wrap. I put them in the air fryer and have found they come out with the best quality that way!
That’s a wrap on what’s in my grocery cart, friends! I hope this list wasn’t too boring, we don’t get a ton of exciting things. This was really fun to put together though and I tried to get a cute picture of my grocery cart just for this post! Can’t wait to hear if you call it a cart or buggy, and let me know some of your must-haves at the grocery store!
Also, if you enjoyed the link up and you also have a blog, feel free to join in! 🙂 You can see the prompts for the following months below!

I always now have a sweet treat like dark chocolate peanut butter cups.

Keeping some sweet treats is so nice when you get a little craving! I loved peanut butter cups too!
So much yumminess in your cart! I need to try these Buffalo Chik patties!

I bet you would love them if you like a little bit of a kick, Kathrine! Thanks so much! 🙂
We call them carts up here in New England and I love to pick myself up a fresh floral bouquet now and then too. I used to buy 3 gallons of milk a week for all my guys but then all of a sudden everyone stopped drinking and using it so now I don’t buy any at all. I do like to keep a carton of unsweetened almond milk in the pantry for cooking and baking.
Love that, Joanne! Fresh flowers just elevate any space and make me smile anytime I see them. Oh my goodness, they took a no-milk pledge it sounds like in your household, haha, but that does save you on some money I’m sure – milk and almost everything else is so pricey now! Almond milk is delish!
I love anything chocolate and marshmallow too! The Russell Stover easter marshmallow Easter eggs take me right back to Easters at my grandparents house!
I always call it a cart – buggy always seemed like a Southern thing to me. Also, as a NYer transplanted to NJ, bagels arent’ supposed to be soft! lol 😉
Oh, so glad you love the chocolate marshmallow combo also, Kim! 🙂 Haha, buggy is very southern and while Ohio isn’t exactly considered the south, I am the southern part! Oh that’s so fun to learn about the bagels too!!
I always have fresh and frozen veggies!

Love that, Jennifer!! They are so good for you and easy to put together for a meal too!
I buy a lot of the same things. I shop once a week but sometimes pick up things in the grocery near my job as I go in there for lunch as they have a great hot buffet. And love that kitties get a whipped cream treat!

Ooh, I love that your store has a hot buffet, those are so delicious and it’s always so nice to be able to pick what you want, also! Thanks so much, Allie!
I need to try that Buffalo Chik Salad from Carrie! That looks so good!
Yes, you absolutely need to make this salad, it’s amazing!! She has some great recipes!
I always have dark chocolate and milk 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

I love that, Racheal, that’s a great combo too!! )
Such a fun prompt! My husband does most of our grocery shopping so I luck out. We stock up on fresh produce weekly, but in the summer, we try to get everything from the farmer’s markets. I need to check out that salsa! And that buffalo chicken salad looks delicious!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Oh, that is so great that your hubby does the grocery shopping!! It’s definitely not the most fun errand to do, haha. The farmer’s market is just top tier for fresh goodies, I can’t wait until ours opens soon! I hope you love the salsa if you give it a try and Carrie’s salad is the best!
Love the balance and lots of healthy foods.

Thanks so much, Cristiane!! 🙂
That Red Cactus Salsa is SO darn good! I’m craving it now. Aww, thanks for sharing some of my faves on here! 🙂 Autumn loves those Rally Frozen Fries. I miss the Farmer’s Market too!! I need to eat more veggies… I’m more into berries and fruit. I do love cherry tomatoes, but I am still confused on if that is a veggie or fruit. Lol.

SO glad you loved that salsa and were able to find it! That’s so neat that Autumn loves the Rally fries too, they are so quick and easy in the air fryer also, so that’s a bonus! Fresh fruit is delish too and so good for you! Haha, I would want to call the cherry tomatoes veggies but I think I’ve heard some people say tomatoes can be fruits, so who knows? We just love them anyhow, haha!
So interesting seeing what you buy! I have to buy a lot of snacks now the boys are bigger – it all adds up, haha! Luckily popcorn (their current favourite) is something I can stock up on when it goes on special! 🙂
Haha, I bet all those snacks do add up for your growing boys!! Popcorn is so good, one of my favorite snacks!
That buffalo chik salad looks amazing, def need to try that! Such good picks for your groceries as well!

Carrie’s buffalo chik salad is a definite must try!! Thanks so much, Midori!
What a great idea for a post as I am nosey and like to know what others like to eat as I can get inspo on meal and snack ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Lauren – bournemouthgirl
Haha, I really like getting inspiration from what others buy too, it helps find some new things and always fun to see how we buy the same things sometimes too! Thanks for stopping by, Lauren!
Thanks for sharing, I enjoy posts like these! 🙂 In the UK/England we call them shopping trolleys! 🙂 I like coffee too. In the summer I like to make my own Vietnamese style iced coffees at home. During winter/the colder months I like making my own hot chocolate.
Zania
I’m so happy you enjoyed this post, Zania, I really enjoyed this link up post, it was fun! 🙂 Oh wow, that’s so fun to learn you call them shopping trolleys, I love that! Ooh, I have seen some of those on Instagram reels and they look like heavenly coffees and hot chocolate is a fave of mine too!
