Have you had difficulty staying motivated in light of Covid?
I’m not sure that there’s a person out there reading this that hasn’t had at least some difficulty staying motivated during the pandemic, myself fully included!
If you’ve been hard on yourself for struggling over this year, I want you to release that thought and feeling from your mind and your heart today. No one could have been prepared for this challenging time or knew exactly how to handle it.
The important thing that I want you to remember is that even with a little over a month left of 2020, there’s still time to make dreams come true. You can still get motivated and hustle to accomplish your goals.
It doesn’t matter what you may have missed or haven’t been able to accomplish, we are starting fresh right this very second! Let’s dive into a few simple ways to stay motivated during Covid!
Get Clear on Your Goals
One way to stay motivated is to know exactly what you’re supposed to be doing to achieve your goals. When we don’t really plan out how we are going to accomplish our goals, we are left to just guess where we should be or what we should be doing.
This also leads to the dreaded comparison game, thinking we should be at least where so-and-so is right now. But it’s true what they say, you cannot compare your beginning to someone’s middle. You are not in competition with anyone.
Focus on yourself and what you can do to get where you want to be, and you will see major results!
Add Your Goals to Your Daily Routine
It can be really easy to get caught up in other things happening in our life that we sort of forget about our goals. Out of sight, out of mind, right? That’s why it is crucial to make sure your goals are listed nearby, regardless of what you’re doing.
Keep this list on your desk, in your phone, include pop-up reminders or alarms, etc.
Make it a part of your daily routine to work on your goals in some form. Even the smallest bit of progress can add up over time!
I recommend starting with one large master list of all the things you need to do to accomplish your goal, and then break those down into mini-goals and add those into your daily planner. You can find a detailed description of how to incorporate mini-goals here!
Set Deadlines for Your Goals
If you’re like me, you may start to feel discouraged when you can’t see your results yet. Depending on your goal, it may take a very long time to achieve it or it may be difficult to see your progress right now.
In order to set yourself up for success, set deadlines or check-in points on your mini-goals each week. It truly helps when you can see it all laid out in front of you and exactly what you’ve accomplished. When you see that you’re making progress, you’ll want to keep going (i.e. motivation!).
I hope that you’ve gained something from this post for how to stay motivated during Covid. This is such a trying time for each of us. The most important thing to remember is that we will get through it together!
Brighter days are certainly ahead for you, I just know it to be true. 🙂

That’s awesome, Caitlin!
These are good tips! I think it’s important to adjust goals and expectations in lockdown as it’s a whole new world – we can’t expect to be as productive as we were before the pandemic for sure!
Grace is so important 🙂
Hope that you had a lovely weekend 🙂
I can’t agree with you more on that note! Nothing is normal this year and we have to accept that some things maybe cannot happen, or even just that we need to give ourselves more grace because it’s been tough physically/mentally.
I hope you’re having the best week! 🙂
These are wonderful tips! I really needed them.

Aww, thank you so much Allie! I’m so happy you found these helpful!
I try to write down my goals each month and some months I put that same goal onto the next month, because I just didn’t have the time. Some goals are def. easier than others. I also try not to set too many goals during the holidays, just surviving during the holidays and not drowning in all the decorating, baking, gift wrapping, etc. is my goal! ha, ha! I love these tips!

Oh, I’m SO with you on that note!! Haha, the holidays are really something else. You definitely want to give yourself plenty of room to breathe while just trying to survive, as you said. 🙂 But I do the very same thing usually each month, or even on my to-do lists. If I don’t get to something, I just continue moving it onto the next day/month until it gets finished.
These are such great ways to stay motivated! I am at the end of my semester and I am having so much trouble staying motivated to complete my work these last two weeks. Pandemic stress combined with fatigue from school do not mix well. I need to set more deadlines for myself!

These are wonderful tips! I have been struggling lately, especially with the uncertainty that reigns right now, and makes it impossible to make decisions in advance. As a planner, that is hard to cope with, but we are closer to the end of the pandemic than we were in March, so we gotta keep our hopes up.
