Have you ever thought about intentional living? I’m talking about putting a real reason behind everything you do.
If you chose to get up at 5 am this morning, especially if you’re not really a morning person, I bet you’ve got a great reason for it. You’re intentional about it. There’s a specific result you want to achieve by getting up at this time. I’m sure there’s something that you can personally relate to that you could insert here.
If you have a goal but haven’t started on it yet or if you’re just feeling a little stuck and not sure what you want to focus on – this post is for you!
Even if you’re putting in work for your goals but aren’t feeling fulfilled, I hope you find a new perspective on your situation after reading this post.
Know What You Want in Life
Before you can start to live life intentionally, you must first know what you want your life to look like.
This is the time to do a little soul searching.
- What makes your heart filled with joy and purpose?
- What brings a smile to your face without any real effort?
- What have you been dreaming of being able to do ever since you can remember?
That’s the very thing you should pursue and begin planning on exactly how you can achieve it.
Create a Roadmap to Your Dream Destination
Now that you know what you want your life to look like, it’s time to create a roadmap to make that dream destination a reality.
A lot of people that don’t reach their goals tend to skip this step. Please, don’t skip this step!
It can get understandably overwhelming when you start to think about your goals. However, if you take the time to break them down into mini-goals, you’re more likely to feel less stressed and you’ll actually know what your next step should be.
For a more in-depth discussion on mini-goals, check out these resources:

Actively Work on Steps to Make It Happen
To live life intentionally means to have a real plan in place to help you succeed, and to motivate yourself to follow that plan daily. This is where a good, positive mindset and accountability come in handy.
Make your mini-goals a priority and create a specific time in your planner to work on them.
When you make that commitment, you’re making a promise to yourself that you’re going to work on it when you said that you would. Don’t break that promise to yourself, friend!
With that being said, there are times that things are out of your control and you have to work on it another time. That’s completely understandable! Don’t get discouraged if and when this happens to you. The important thing to remember is to never give up, and it’s okay to reschedule (not erase) your mini-goals.
Gather Resources That Will Help You Succeed
To set yourself up for success, it’s a good idea to gather helpful resources to keep you on track. When you’re just starting on your journey, you may not necessarily know what all of those resources are just yet.
As you continue working through your mini-goals, you’ll likely find things that will help you push through them. It could be a person that’s super motivating, an online guide that really walks you through the step that you’re on, etc. Anything that you find helpful, take note of it and add it to a list of resources.
It may seem silly, but you are going to have good days and bad days – you definitely want to have resources to fall back on. Especially on the bad days!
Some of my favorite resources are listed below:
- My Erin Condren LifePlanner
- Daily Affirmations
- Reminders on my phone that ‘I can do this!’
- Practicing mindfulness and staying present
I hope that you’ve gained something from this post! I’m going to be zoning in on how to live life intentionally in the coming posts. As we are heading into Fall (can you believe it?), I think it’s a good time for reflection and to determine what you want your next season in life to look like.
If you found this post helpful, please give it a share and comment! I will be forever grateful!

Love this, Radi! I am with you, it truly is!
This is such a lovely post! I really like the idea of making solid plans to achieve your goals. Without solid plans, goals are really just dreams that probably won’t happen. It is so important to put time into the things that are truly important!
