Covid has changed so much during this year, and because of it, you’re likely spending Halloween at home this year!
With many of us in the United States still unable to participate (or just feel as though it’s unsafe to do so) in large gatherings, it makes celebrating Halloween this year quite different.
Some of you probably attend parties or take your little ones trick-or-treating, but if you’re unable to do some of your usual activities, this post is for you!
I hope you’ll find this post helpful in having the best Halloween at home that quarantine life will allow. A cozy night in with some fun, family-friendly activities is an awesome way to spend Halloween 2020.
Make Some Halloween-Inspired Treats
A cozy night-in is not complete with snacks! In this case, to make the night extra festive, try making some Halloween-inspired treats.
I’ve put together some of my favorite treats I came across on Pinterest and I hope you’ll find some that you love!
Halloween Charcuterie Board by Crisp Collective
Peanut Butter Spider Cookies by Mommy Musings
Halloween Sprinkle Cookies by Butter With a Side of Bread
Spider Web Taco Dip by Palatable Pastime
Have a Movie Marathon
If you love curling up in a warm blanket and watching movies, a halloween-inspired move marathon is a great way to celebrate Halloween!
Last year during Halloween, I put together a list of my favorite scary movies. If you’re looking for family-friendly (i.e. non-scary) movies, I have you covered! The movies are listed in specific sections and I looked up the rating for each movie, so you can scope out which ones fit your family best.
Check out my Halloween-inspired movie marathon list here!
Carve Pumpkins
Carving pumpkins is a fun, family-friendly activity. If you’ve already visited the pumpkin patch and have some on your porch, head outside and start carving your unique masterpiece.
If you prefer to avoid the mess of actually carving the pumpkins, another fun alternative is to use stencils and spray-paint your pumpkins. You’ll have a neat design, and be able to pick cute colors to showcase your pumpkins!
Dress Up Anyway!
For me, I haven’t dressed up for Halloween in years. But if you do, or have little ones that were looking forward to turning into their favorite character, dress up anyway!
It will make your evening all the more festive to enjoy Halloween-inspired treats in your favorite costume while celebrating.
Create a Candy Scavenger Hunt
If you have little ones, I’m sure they always look forward to getting lots of candy when they go trick-or-treating. A fun way to keep the tradition alive at home this year is to create your own candy land hunt!
Just like Easter egg hunting, scatter and hide their Halloween candy throughout the house. They’ll have a blast searching for it and getting sweet treats in return!
If you’re spending Halloween at home, I hope you’ve found some great tips to make your evening fun and festive! Let me know how you’re spending Halloween in the comments!

Very timely write up. I am from India, here we have a lot of festivals. But Halloween is something we missed. At least in my place. Thanks for introducing me to something new and special. Happy Halloween.

These look like fun things to do at home to pass the time! 🙂 We don’t really celebrate Halloween here but there is one street in the neighbourhood going to do trick or treating, it’s allowed here but it’s not really something you see a lot! It’s not that popular in America!
Hope that you are having a good week! 🙂
We are planning to have a delicious charcuterie board, sweet treats and drinks! Ha! Can’t go wrong with that! I love the candy scavenger hunt game idea.
