Looking to spice up your morning routine? This is for you!
I have been so excited to put together this post for a little while now! For my fellow bloggers, aren’t these compilation posts just the best sometimes? I’ve had all these morning routine ideas pinging in my brain and I finally jotted them down on paper, and viola, we have this post today!
While not every person is a morning person, we all still interact with them in some form or fashion. So, we might as well make them the very best they can be and elevate our experience!
My goal with this post is not to overcomplicate your mornings because let’s be honest, you have enough going on already! I wanted little add-ins that would be super simple, yet super effective, and help make the beginning of your day a little brighter.
Let’s dive into some ways that you can elevate your morning routine, or stack a few together to create a morning routine if you don’t have one yet!
Journaling
A therapeutic way to start your day is to journal! What I love about spending time writing first thing in the morning is that it helps get my thoughts on paper. It acts as a release from my brain so I can think a little more clearly and not feel as overwhelmed.
There is an infinite amount of journaling techniques out there, but a few of my favorites that I want to recommend to you are these:
- Gratitude Journaling
- Inspirational Journal Prompts
- Brain Dump Journaling
Coffee
If you’ve been here any length of time, you know how much I love my coffee! While I’m bad and typically pick up a toasted marshmallow cold brew from a local coffee shop (I blame the convenience of the drive-thru, haha), that absolutely adds up in money and calories. If you’re looking for a healthier version with summer coming up, check out Javita! You may remember I did a collab with them last year, you can check out my Instagram reel right here.
Their instant coffee makes it so quick and easy to have a delicious cup of coffee, and you can feel free to add in a sweetener of your choice, such as non-dairy milk (to keep it healthier!), honey, or extracts like vanilla or even a fun one like rum extract!
Healthy Breakfast
While I am not good about eating breakfast (I’d rather have it for dinner, honestly), it is the most important meal of the day! If it’s something you have each morning, you can switch up your breakfast game by trying some new recipes!
Here are a few healthy breakfast recipes that I want to try soon!
- Gluten-Free Apple and Oat Muffins by Bon Appetit
- Baked Chocolate Chip Blender Oatmeal Bars by Simply Taralynn
- No-Bake Breakfast Cookies by I Heart Naptime
Prayer Time
For many of us, mornings provide the quietest time before the day really gets started and things start happening that are out of our control. This makes it great for prayer time, whether it’s reading a devotional, covering your loved ones in prayer and remembering situations they are facing, reading a particular book/scripture in the Bible, or even a study guide such as The Bible Recap.
Spend Time In Your Planner
I say it all the time, but I promise it’s true – my planner keeps me sane! I absolutely love spending time looking through my planner, jotting things down I don’t want to forget, and remembering all the things that need to get done. A planner isn’t just great for checking your schedule for today, tomorrow and all the days following, but it’s super handy for creating a space to track your habits and making sure you’re progressing through your goals. I recommend creating a Top Three list for each day so you prioritize what really has to get knocked out, and then if you zoom through those, you can always add another three for your day!
Some of my very favorite planners include the Erin Condren LifePlanner and Cultivate What Matters PowerSheets Goal Planner.

Get a Workout In
Carrie from Curly Crafty Mom always inspires me with how dedicated she is to her morning workouts, whether it’s running or weights! I’ve fallen off my exercise routine at this point, but truly want to get myself back into it soon. I always felt better after I ran on the treadmill or even alternated walking too while reading my Amazon Kindle.
Plus, if you are someone who works out, knocking it out first thing in the morning helps you cross it off your list so you don’t have to worry about it later in the day when you may be tired or have other things going on.
Listen to Podcasts
If you’re looking for something inspirational, educational or even just entertaining – podcasts are a fantastic option! I shared my favorite podcasts awhile back with you, but really should do an updated version soon as I’ve added some new ones to the list. 🙂
Cozy Pajamas
Wearing something cozy to bed is not just a good way to sleep better, but it also helps your morning feel more cozy! My mom found the softest summer pajama set from Walmart by the Joyspun brand, and they are so cute also!
Read Your Current Book
Reading is so neat because it can mentally transport you away to another world. Sometimes that transportation is just what we need to start our day and can really influence your entire mood. You might remember that reading a chapter a day for me is such a lifesaver!
Level Up Your Shower Routine
Soft, quick-drying towels with a luxury-feel goes a long way when you’re hopping out of the shower. Towels are such a great investment as they typically last a long time and they’re something you likely use on a daily basis.
Also, for a luxurious hair experience with benefits like hair growth and volume, Vegamour is a great option! Peep my review of using their hair serum for three months and you can see the link the products I used in the widget below!
Have Your Clothes Picked Out
Okay, you got me! This one is actually a night-before thing, but it will help you elevate your morning routine because you won’t have to waste time trying to figure out what to wear! One of my favorite places to shop (and lucky enough to be an ambassador of theirs!) is Avara! They have such beautiful looks and you can also get some steals on their sales page. While their clothing is very high quality and so comfortable, making it truly worth spending the money, I know that some of their pieces are a little pricey!
If you missed it, you can go back to my review of their Mamie Sweater and Becca Jeans. I wear these jeans on repeat because they are so comfortable and have a trendy raw hem, so a perfect way to elevate your day with these jeans!
That’s a wrap on these simple ways to elevate your morning routine, sweet friends! I hope this little list helps give you some ideas for your very own morning routine, and even if you’re not a morning person, they can absolutely be influential in your day at anytime you see fit. 🙂 I’d love to hear some of the ways that you elevate your morning routine!
This is a fun post, esp since I’m such a morning person!! Ha, ha! My mornings are a bit limited, but I do try to get up and do a few household errands first, then I workout and then I get ready for the day. I like how you pray in the morning. I’ve always struggled with praying consistently and I do it way less than I’d like to admit. I did get that women’s prayer journal and I just haven’t found the right time to start it yet with the kids out of school now. Ohh, your healthy breakfast ideas sound so good! I may try overnight oats next, if I can get myself motivated to do it the night before. Ha, ha! Those Avara outfits (esp the blue dress) are so pretty!

Thank you SO much!! Haha, we are definitely both early birds!! I really want to get better with prayer time myself, and would love to try that prayer journal that you have also! Good luck with those overnight oats if you give them a whirl, and yes, the struggle is real with those things we have to remember to do the night before, haha!!
I always get my workout in the morning (not right now though since I haven’t been cleared yet post-surgery)! I do miss my 6 am workout classes right now. And with Fajr starting at 4 am and ending a little after 6 right now, my prayer time is right when I wake up before I leave for class.

That’s very understandable about taking care of yourself after surgery! I just love that you are so committed to your workout classes and the pictures you share on your IG stories always make them look so fun!! I love that you make time for prayer when you wake up!!
This is such a great post! I’m not a morning person, but I’m definitely more productive in the mornings, so maybe I am? Haha! I start my day by doing NYT puzzles with a cup of tea, and if I don’t work out in the morning, it doesn’t happen.
Jill – Doused in Pink
Oh, thank you tons Jill!! Haha, sounds like those mornings are working for you even if they’re not your fave! 🙂 Your crossword puzzles and tea sound so peaceful in the morning, and I can completely relate on the workout note! I’m so trying to get back into that routine and I always did it like first thing in the morning because I will talk myself out of it later in the day, haha!
What a delightful post! I love how you’ve shared practical and easy-to-implement tips for enhancing our morning routines. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and I can’t wait to try some of these ideas myself.
You are too sweet, Melody, thank you!! I’m so happy you enjoyed this post, and I truly appreciate you stopping by and hope some of these ideas will be helpful to you!!

Your mornings sound so wonderful, I am becoming a big fan of cold brew lately and reading is so peaceful! Thank you tons, Melissa! 🙂
Morning routines are so important as they help set the tone for your day. It seems like you have yours down to perfection! I wish I was a morning person, but sadly, I’m not. That’s one of the things I’d change about myself if I could!
Aww, I definitely try to have a good structure for my mornings! I think it’s absolutely okay that you’re not a morning person, and you are absolutely so productive each day. I always love your to-do lists you shared on IG!! Thanks so much, Lindsay!
Ah yes I practice many of these already I pray every morning for loved ones who have passed on. And on my days off I do yoga it is a great workout. And thank you for the other ideas here! I will have to try some of them.

That is so beautiful Allie and I really want to start incorporating yoga into my weeks! Thank you friend!
I love drinking coffee 😀
So glad we have that in common, Kinga!! 🙂
Yes to this morning routine! Now I want to get new towels. Lol! My art journaling is a big part of my morning and I can’t live without coffee and a good workout. Avara has such cute clothes and wearing anything by them would bright my day!

Haha, I’m always influencing you on coffee but towels are a whole new thing! 🙂 I absolutely love your art journaling and you are so so talented my dear friend, it always makes me smile!
I need to check out those breakfast recipes! I love breakfast but normally rely on something quick and easy like cereal on a day to day basis. The breakfast cookies sound so good!
I definitely get that about breakfast, hope you find a recipe you love, my friend!!
I totally turned into a morning person because of work. For me really helps getting to bed early the night before.

That’s more than understandable Radi, and I’m so with you on going to bed early, makes it a ton easier to get up the next day!
Such a great morning routine. Thank you for sharing. Hugs to you friend.

Thanks so much Julia, I hope you’ll find some of them super helpful!! 🙂
These are some good things to have in your morning routine. I have noticed for me the easier the routine the better it works for me. But I do try and avoid reaching for my phone straight away so it doesn’t monopolise my time or my first thoughts of the day. Thank you for sharing your suggestions.
Lauren – bournemouthgirl
That’s such a good idea about not reaching for your phone right away, I know that’s one I struggle with and so many others do too!! You are so right, we need small, simple things to add to our morning routine instead of overarching things that take a ton of time. Thanks so much Lauren!!
Love this post! Starting the day on a positive note is so important, and your tips are really helpful.
Aww, so happy you loved this one and found it helpful Candice!! 🙂
