Here’s me trying to get back into the swing of all the blog things!
This summer has been a bit brutal. I’ve experienced some hardships with family things, our sweet cats getting sick and having to put one down a week ago, and honestly so much of these things are out of my control and seem really unfair.
That’s sort of how life goes sometimes though, we go through seasons and I know there will be brighter ones ahead. With the holidays coming up and as much as I’m going to miss my Pepper cat, I still want to try to soak up all the goodness they still have to offer. I will be spoiling Draino extra and continuing to be thankful for our little family!
Let’s dive into all the things lately!
What I’ve Been Watching
I enjoy curling up in my chair in the evenings trying to find something good to watch before bed. I like a little bit of everything, whether it’s romance, comedy, true crime, action, documentaries, animated movies, news, etc.
Young Thug Trial
This is truly the never-ending trial of the century, yet still entertaining every single day they are in session! I’ve watched many court cases, but never quite seen anything to where the prosecutors call witnesses that they truly have no idea what they’re going to say. Most of their witnesses, besides actual law enforcement, could very easily be considered best for the defense team instead of the prosecution. They don’t want to talk and some have even accused the DAs of misconduct, it’s an absolute mess. I may still be chatting about this trial in September 2025.
Tell Me Lies
So I thought I found a brand-new show after seeing all the hype about it and then I realized on my Hulu menu that it’s actually season two they’re advertising! I got so wrapped up in this show from the very first episode and now I’m on episode two of the second season. It’s a tv drama focused on Lucy who starts her first year in college, living in the dorms. She locks eyes with a bad boy senior, Stephen, and it’s a rollercoaster from there, including a tragedy with her roommate that follows the entire first season. I was surprised by the ending of it!
While I really like this show and feel especially the two main characters are so interesting (and the actors are together in real life too! They have been since auditioning for their parts), there are A LOT of spicy scenes as they call it nowadays. I could absolutely do without them, but sadly they’re in almost everything and hard to avoid, but just wanted to give you a heads up.
Lord of The Rings Series
Well, this one was certainly unplanned! My best friend Stephanie was pleasantly surprised when I told her I started watching LOTR. She has loved the series for a long time and I just couldn’t get past the oddness of the whole thing. I used to feel that way about Star Wars though too, but here we are, haha! We got a new tv maybe a month ago and I was excited to watch a movie, so Kyle talked me into trying these movies and I’ve now watched all of the LOTR movies and The Hobbit movies (they are prequels). There’s a tv show that’s a prequel to The Hobbit on Amazon Prime that I really want to check out now, so that may be in next month’s all the things!
Break 50
As you might imagine, this is something I watch with my golf-obsessed hubby! It doesn’t hurt that Bryson Dechambeau is my favorite golfer either. 🙂 I’ve been following him since he was still an amateur playing at The Masters. Breaking 50 is a huge feat so you don’t expect to actually see him and whoever his guest star(s) be successful, but we keep watching just to see! He’s had some big guest stars too and they chat while playing their round, like John Daly, Tony Romo and even President Trump. I’m still mad he had Paige Spiranac on as a guest though (IYKYK).
What I’m Reading
For the most part, I read YA novels, rom/com, personal development books, or thrillers!
The Fourth Wing + Iron Flame
Carrie from Curly Crafty Mom really sent me down a rabbit hole when she recommended The Fourth Wing! I’m literally counting down until January so I can read the third book and have it to notify me on my Libby app so I can get it as quickly as possible, there will be literally months-long wait otherwise. Fantasy books with dragons, people going through life-threatening trials (cue the parapet!) to try to be chosen by one of those dragons, are not usually my jam – but believe me, the hype is real with this series and even if it’s not something you’d usually read, go pick it up anyway!
The Women
My sweet SIL lent me this book and I haven’t actually started it here, but wanted to include it because I will be starting on it this weekend! I’ve read one of her other books, The Great Alone, and I think I sobbed through most of it. I also felt so much anger towards one of the characters, the author really knows how to captivate emotions. I expect The Women will be the very same way as it’s a historical fiction centered around a brave young woman who enters the Vietnam War as a nurse, sharing her experiences during and after.
The Housemaid is Watching
You all know that I love The Housemaid series, so I had to read the newest book! It centers around Millie, a housemaid who works privately for clients, and she always seems to find herself in a troubled situation…but that’s also where she thrives! The third book’s setting is just a bit different, she’s finally living a more peaceful life with her husband and adjusting to a new home/neighborhood. Turns out, Millie gets her very own housemaid in this book and she’s got some very interesting neighbors as well. It’s a must read, but I’d start with the first and second in the series if you haven’t already, you’ll be missing some vital context if not.
If you want to read my review of The Housemate, you can read it here with this link!
What I’m Working On
I like to pick goals for the house, here on the blog, and just things in general that I can break down over time so they don’t feel as heavy or overwhelming.
Revisiting Blog Routine
This has been on my list for awhile now, I desperately need some consistency in my blog life (and honestly in my life otherwise too!). I’m try to ease back into a solid routine, I used to be so good with posting and just staying on top of everything, but life has kicked my booty a bit lately. It’s never too late to get back into the swing of things though, and I hope I can still finish out the year strong!
Holiday Content
It’s so hard to believe it’s almost time for the holidays again! I’ve been itching to get some of my previous holiday content boosted, as well as to create some new ones for you! If you have something in mind that you’d like to see here, let me know in the comments! 🙂
Pepper’s Shadow Box + Pictures
I bought a picture frame to put some of Pepper’s pictures in and want to finish that up this weekend. There are eight places for photos, so I thought I would do four of Pepper and four of Draino, so we have pictures of both cats in it. I am really missing her as I’m typing this, I feel this is going to take a really long time to learn how to navigate. She would normally be laying on my lap right now as I typed a blog post. I am going to order a shadow box to place some of her things in, like her bowl, her favorite little ball that jingled, and I printed out a quote on grief I want to pair with it also.
What I’m Excited About
There is almost always something magical to get excited about, no matter how ordinary it may seem at first!
Ordering All The Planner Things
I just ordered my Erin Condren LifePlanner a couple of days ago during their birthday sale! I’m so excited that they brought back some designs from the vault, I had a few one of those back in the day. I decided to go with the Watercolor Drops design! I’ll be sharing it here as soon as I get it! I have been looking at PowerSheets, a desk calendar, and maybe even trying out some other new planners as well.
Fall Coffee Drinks
Let’s be honest, I’ve been getting fall drinks since August, but it still belongs in this section, haha! I always love a pumpkin spice latte or cold brew, but I’ve been leaning towards my already-favorite toasted marshmallow lately. Also, I have really loved like maple/butterscotch flavors this time around!
Our 9th Wedding Anniversary
Technically, our anniversary was last week on the 19th, but since Peppy passed away the day before, I’m trying to carry out the celebration into the rest of the month. We tried to celebrate on Friday by going out to eat at Outback Steakhouse and a trip to the PGA Superstore (one of Kyle’s faves). Today we are heading back to the golf store because Kyle has an appointment for a putter fitting (they make it custom for him), so we will have another yummy meal someplace!
That’s a wrap on all the things this month, sweet friends! I know things are a little sad around here since Pepper passed away last week and I’m sorry for that. I’m trying to move through this grief the best way I know how and really still want to show up here with all of you the best way that I can. 🙂
Thanks so much for all of your support through this really difficult time, I truly appreciate each and every one of you!

Thank you so much Jill, you are too kind!! I appreciate your thoughts and that makes me excited to start reading The Women here soon today! 🙂 Thank you again so much!
We’ve been reading the same books!! I really wonder how long her third book will be, my guess is it’ll be even longer than the first two! Ha, ha! I love that EC cover! I think my EC planner comes on Monday already! I am so sorry you’ve had a rough month with Peppy and the family stuff too. I can see why blogging has been hard! I feel that is the first thing that goes when my life gets wonky! It’s just a lot to keep up with! You will get back on track!

Yes, we have!! I bet it’ll be longer than the first two also, and goodness, they’re already super long as it is, haha! So happy we both have our EC Planners ready for next year, and thank you again so much for being there about sweet Pepper and my gift! I still smile at it everytime I look at it each day!
I don’t think I’ve heard of any of those shows!

Oh, thank you so much Lindsay, I appreciate you and your sweet thoughts and prayers!! I know they’ve helped!
Happy anniversary. Lord of the rings series is on my watch list. I’m currently reading End of watch by Stephen king.
These sound like fun shows. I currently am not subscribed to Hulu or Netflix. I have Amazon and HBO. I also watch YouTube. I am currently reading Turtles All The Way Down. The shadow box looks lovely and congratulations on 9 years, almost a decade!

It’s great to see you back in the swing of things, even amidst such tough times. I’m so sorry to hear about your cat, Pepper. Losing a pet is incredibly hard, and it’s wonderful that you’re focusing on cherishing the moments with Draino. Your outlook on embracing the good amidst the challenges is inspiring!
I also love that you’re finding time to relax and unwind with some good shows. The Young Thug trial sounds wild! It’s fascinating how unpredictable court cases can be. Thank you for sharing your journey with us; sending you lots of positive vibes for brighter days ahead!
I just posted new post, I invite you to read https://www.melodyjacob.com/2024/10/mushroom-coffee-health-benefits-ingredients-guide.html
I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet cat, Pepper. Losing a pet is never easy, and it’s understandable to feel a mix of emotions during such times. It’s great to see your positive outlook, though, focusing on the joy of your remaining furry friend, Draino. Spoiling him sounds like the perfect way to honor Pepper’s memory.
So many different things to do. Even I want to be consistent in my blogging. Losing a pet is heart breaking. I watch a lot of shows with my hubby. I love thrillers especially psychological thrillers. Yesterday I finished The Breakdown by B.A.Paris and started reading The Housemaid. Have a great month of October with lot of seasonal drinks. 🙂
