I can’t wait to share with you some simple ways to fall into joy (see what I did there 😉 ) this season!
Life is filled with a variety of emotions at any given time. One moment you could be living your best life, and the next you could be praying for a solution when there appears to be none at all. We often have little-to-no control over these things that pop up throughout our daily lives. The good news is that we can control our reactions to those very surprising pop ups – and remember, nothing is ever a surprise to the Lord. That is a blessing because He is already working on our behalf even when we may not realize it.
Regardless of what you may be facing today, I think it’s fair to say that you would welcome any little (and big!) bits of joy that you could sprinkle throughout your day. That’s sort of what I’d like this post to feel like, as if leaves were falling into the place where and when they’re needed most.
I hope this post helps you find some new ways to fall into joy this time of year, or even reminds you of things that brought joy to you in the past!
Create a Morning Routine
The beginning of your day really lays a foundation for what’s to come. Creating a morning routine is a wonderful way to make your mornings more enjoyable, even if you’re not a morning person (hello, night owls!). For me, it helps waking up early, having my first cup of coffee with my toasted marshmallow nutpods creamer in one of my favorite mugs, and taking a look at my schedule in my planner.
Read a Book
If rom-com paperback novels aren’t your thing, maybe magazines or even blogs (YAY!) are more your style! Whatever it be, there’s something out there for you that will transport your mind to a land far, far away. 🙂
If you do love reading books and need some ideas, you can check out what I’ve been reading this year so far! My fall reads will be coming out super soon, and I’ll add them back here when they’re published!
Wear Something Cozy
Choose pieces that make you feel comfortable and cozy. I don’t know about you, but my sweaters and scarves are like my emotional support accessories, haha! If you’re in an office at work or even at home, keeping a soft, warm jacket nearby is a great way to add more cozy to your day.
Clean and Clear Your Space
There is so much to be said for having a decluttered space, friends. If what’s surrounding you right now looks like disorganized chaos, your mind will likely start to feel that way too! Take a little time today to tidy up a spot that you’re in often. It’s okay if you only get a very small section done – you can piecemeal it. Those little bits here and there will add up to a space that makes you feel good and helps you to be productive.
Make Fun New Recipes
Whether you prefer to bake or cook (or maybe you love both!), it feels so good when you see a finished product that you whipped up yourself. I’ve been in a cooking and baking zone lately and it has made a big difference for me mentally, plus it gives me and my hubby new recipes to add to our rotation. This time of year is perfect for trying out new apple or pumpkin baked goods, and warm, savory soups like my quick and easy goulash recipe.
Watch a TV Show or Movie
Just like books, tv shows and movies can give your mind a little vacation! Even though we only have steaming, I love finding shows that release each week. Kyle and I have been enjoying Ahsoka, The Continental, and Loki lately. I also find rewatching some of my favorite tv series or movies can bring joy to my day. Golden Girls is my ultimate favorite!
Grab a Coffee
You know I love my iced coffees! There’s something that makes me so happy about picking up a coffee and getting my day started. While I’m trying to cut back on getting them quite as often, they definitely bring joy in moderation!
Choose Joy
Have you ever woke up with a sore neck? You may think, ‘so this is how the day is going to go’ and sadly, that’s usually the way that it goes. But what we have to remember is that our attitude affects how we approach every other thing that happens in a day’s time. Thus, it’s often our attitude that makes it seem like the entire day is now ruined.
Instead, choose joy today. Even in the moments that are hard, the moments that you don’t understand why things are happening the way that they are, still in these moments – choose joy.
That’s a wrap on my fall into joy post, friends! I’d love to hear what things bring you joy, and if you’re adding any of these to your to-do list! Hey, we can have fun to-do lists too! 🙂

Ashley! What a wonderful uplifting post! You know I choose joy every day and I practice many of these! Thank you for this “marvelous” (see what I did there) Monday goodness and may your day be overflowing with love and joy!
Aww, thank you SO much my dear friend! Yes, you absolutely do and I love it! 🙂 You are the best, I definitely see what you did there, haha! 😉 Wishing you the very same Andrea and I hope you have an amazing week!
I needed this post today! Thank you for all these little bits of joy. I will choose joy today. Those nut pods looks tasty. I need to finish Asoka and I’m binging on Suits when I can. Have a great week Ashley!

I’m so happy it came at the right time for you, Kathrine!! You are more than welcome, and I’m sending all the good vibes your way and praying you have a beautiful, joyful day! 🙂 I really loved the Ahsoka series, I hope you’ll enjoy how it all comes together too. I remember watching Suits, it is one of my absolutely favorite shows and so happy you are loving it, too! Wishing you a fantastic week, my dear friend!
These are all beautiful ways to fall into joy. I love the fact that it’s sweater season again. I tend to read a lot more this time of year because I don’t ride my four-wheeler as much. But it’s nice to have this relaxing season.
Thank you so much, Crystal, and I’m right there with you on the sweater weather! I can definitely understand that, it gets harder to do things that we enjoy outdoors this time of year. I hope you find a lot of good books and enjoy some relaxing time. And also, get in some more four-wheeler rides in the meantime before the weather turns too icky! 🙂
I love a good book and cozy clothes. I find I must choose joy daily. Thanks friend. Love to you and yours.

So happy you love those too, Regine! You are so very right, it is a choice and a daily one at that. Sending you all the love right back, friend! 🙂 I appreciate you!
I love the idea of creating a morning routine that brings us joy and practicing gratitude by writing down things we are thankful for each day.

Thank you SO much, Candice! I’m so happy you loved the morning routine and truly hope you find one that works great for you, I love starting mine out with gratitude. It truly sets the tone for the day, or at least very much helps, haha! 😉
Great tips. I am a creature of habit and love having a routine. The kids and I also have a journal where we reflect and write down what happened that day..
Thank you, Hena!! I can absolutely relate to you with the routines, it truly makes such a difference for me too. I love that you and your kids take time to reflect and write down those things, that is incredible and I think that’s amazing to be doing it with your kids!! <3
Love these! I love trying out new recipes and wearing something cozy!

Aww, thanks Jennifer!! You always have the best recipes and healthy ones, too! 🙂
Love this post! Those little moments of joy really do make a difference! My morning routine of drinking tea and reading starts my day on the right foot. And your point about decluttering is spot on – I’m always less productive when my office is a disorganized mess.
Jill – Doused in Pink
Thanks so much Jill, so happy you loved this one! 🙂 I love that you have a morning routine like that, it sounds so peaceful and I know you’re also a fan of decluttering! I agree with you, I can’t work very well in a messy environment.
I love this joy post! Coffee and a nice bath definitely bring joy to me.

These are such great tips! Making new recipes always brings me joy, especially if they are desserts. Haha!
Thank you tons, Laura!! Haha, I’m right there with you, always love desserts the most!
I love reading books 😀
So happy we can relate with the books Kinga, and you always find great ones that you share on your blog! 🙂
These are some really helpful pointers! I find that I am happiest when I am trying new things and when I am in a quiet, dry area.

Thank you so much, Melody!! Oh, I love that, it really makes a difference when you have a peaceful environment overall and trying new things can bring a lot of joy for sure! Can’t wait to check out your post, my friend!
Life can throw all sorts of curve balls and how we react to them can help us. I love all of your joyful tips here. I loved Ahsoka, I think I will rewatch it! It is true that if we start our day bad, bad things keep happening. If I stub my toe on the bed frame in the morning, I now laugh instead of saying “Great a bad start to the day”, if it’s not too sore! Beautiful post Ashley xx

Thank you bunches, Janet, you are so right about those curveballs. They are likely going to come for us no matter what we do, so it really is all about working on our reactions to those very things. I’m so glad you loved Ahsoka too, and yes, I would love to rewatch it as well! I think it’s one of those shows where you can still pick up on new things by going back to it, there’s a lot going on. That’s awesome that you try to laugh things off when the mornings start off wonky, it can definitely be difficult, but really helps I think on those days that we can try to take it in stride and try to move forward. Thank you again so much, I truly appreciate you stopping by and your sweet comment! 🙂
Omg, I did some deep fall cleaning over the weekend and it’s incredible how GOOD I feel now! My space feels lighter and I do, too!
