I’m excited to share with you a super helpful way to stay on top of your goals!
Life can get hectic and be a little messy at times, making it difficult to focus on the things that you want to accomplish. It will often feel like you just don’t have time for them, or maybe you don’t even know where you should start.
While there is a lot of talk about goal setting, there is often not so much talk about how to keep up with those goals. When you track your progress, it becomes a real game changer. Tracking your progress doesn’t have to be complicated either! You can truly do it however works best for you! The important thing is that you’re taking a look at your goals so that you know where you’re at with each of them at any given time.
I put together a few reasons to advocate for why you should track your progress and how it’s going to help you reach your goals and ultimately, create a life you love!
You Stay Focused On Your Goals
When you create a habit of tracking your progress, it’s impossible to forget about your goals. Half the battle with achieving goals is simply paying attention to them. You want to keep your goals in front of you in a place that you’re often at. For me, that’s my desk and more specifically, in my planner. For you, it may be a different place, like the whiteboard in your kitchen or on the fridge, or even on the table beside your bed. No matter the place, it will benefit you to have them out where you can easily see them and check in with them.
As I mentioned before, this process doesn’t have to be (nor should it be!) complicated. You want to make it as easy as possible for you to track your progress.
You can use a notebook, calendar, or even a goal-specific planner if you have one, such as PowerSheets. Use what you have and find a system that works for you, such as checking in on Sundays, or maybe a few times per week depending upon your goals. Then, as you find something that becomes routine, feel free to branch out and buy something specific if you think it will help boost your productivity.
It Helps You Define Your Next Steps
While there are many things that you may want to do in life, what often separates a dream from reality is having a plan! Friends, you know I love a good plan and seeing it come together! 🙂
When you make a plan to actively track your progress, you are going to know what stage you’re at in a particular goal. That alone helps you see what steps you need to take in the near future to get even closer to your ultimate goal.
You Have A Reason to Celebrate
So many times, we are looking forward to see how far we still have to go. It can be discouraging when we can’t see progress, especially when we can clearly see and feel how hard we’ve been working for a period of time. Without tracking your progress, it can be difficult to tell just how far you’ve come!
You don’t have to wait until you reach the point of your ultimate goal to celebrate – you can absolutely celebrate right now!
Throughout the course of achieving your goal, especially if it’s a larger goal overall, you’re going to have a lot of tasks to complete. Each and every one of those tasks, no matter how mundane they feel at the time, are helping you get to where you want to be. So big or small, each of those tasks matter and are considered victories!

I had jotted down every goal/big organizational project, etc. last year and I was shocked when I read through it at the end of the year to see what I had all accomplished. And I had thought I didn’t accomplish very much. So, it def. does help to do this!
