Who else loves to curl up and read during the cold months?
I’ve set a goal to read at least two books per month this year and I’m right on track so far. I wish I had kept up with reading a whole lot more in 2020, so I’m trying to make up for that now.
I am excited to share with you four books that I’ve read this year, and I hope that you find something to add to your reading list!
After We Collided by Anna Todd
This is the second book in the After series and it was a heavy one! If you’re familiar with the series or if you’ve seen the movies, you won’t be surprised. I won’t add any spoilers here, but just know that there is a lot of chaos in the book.
It’s well worth it though if you loved the first book and are invested in the characters! I’m on the waiting list for the third book at my library, so I can’t wait to read it soon.
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
This has to be one of my favorite books that I’ve ever read! It was a delightfully much lighter read after finishing up After We Collided. A funny and witty book with a splash of romance.
It made me want to read more by this author, so I picked up one of Sally’s books for my February reads.
The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss
I know it’s February, but I really wanted to read this book back during the holidays, haha. I finally got a chance to read it when I saw it on a bookshelf upfront in my library, so I knew I had to grab it.
It’s a quick, light read and so fun! I felt like I was tagging along with each of her dates, often disastrous, and I enjoyed every second.
99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne
As I mentioned a few moments ago, I couldn’t wait to pick up another book by this author! This book is quirky and the main character is someone who I couldn’t really relate to, but I welcomed that.
She’s a tough girl who’s working as a bartender in the beginning, handling biker gangs and fights like a boss. She’s awesome, but I could never do that, haha!
I really enjoyed this book and it was definitely a fun read!
Wishing each of you a beautiful rest of your week, and I hope that you enjoyed this quick little post!
Please let me know if you have any book suggestions, I’m trying to choose what to read in March and April!
Let’s Chat!
Have you read any of these books?
What book are you reading at the moment?
Do you have a reading goal for this year?
Martha -A Lovely Messy Life says
I really need to work on my reading game. Recently I tend to start books and either take too long to read them or get bored. You’re so good, and thanks for sharing ideas! The Hating Game sounds really cute.
Hope you are having a wonderful week, Ashley! xo
Martha
I can completely relate, friend! I did that so often last year, and I’ve felt it on and off this year, but have pushed through, haha. The Hating Game was definitely my fave so far this year, and it would be awesome as a movie!
My week is going well so far, thanks so much! I hope yours is too, Martha! 🙂
Would love to check-out this author… Sally Thorne.

I think you’d love her, Radi! Let me know if you ever read any of her books. 🙂
Thanks for sharing these reads Ashley! I don’t read a lot because I’m either practicing or journaling. My favorite book last year was The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. So good!

Thanks for reading, my friend! I can completely understand that. I always enjoy seeing posts of your journaling! 🙂 I will definitely check out that book!
These all sound good! I’ve only read about 3 books so far this year. I read a lot of fanfic though.

3 books is great, my friend! Especially with how busy your year has been thus far!
Thank you for sharing. I didn’t read any of these books. Currently I reading Chanel biography.

Thanks for reading, friend! 🙂 That sounds wonderful and I bet it’s really interesting.
I will have to check out “The Hating Game”. I have been looking for a light funny read! I am currently reading a great crime novel series, but I can’t read it too close to bed because it keeps me up at night. I will add this to my list!

That’s awesome, Jill! I think you would love it! 🙂 That series sounds great, but I can definitely understand not reading it too late. I do the same thing!
They sound like interesting books, especially the Sally Thorne ones! 🙂 It’s always good when you find a book that makes you want to read more by that author! 🙂
Hope that you are having a good weekend 🙂
They are awesome, Mica! I completely agree. I love it when that happens! 🙂
Thank you SO much! I’m about to get it started with some WandaVision on Disney+. I hope you have a fantastic one, as well!
Need to give these books a go! Thanks for sharing x

Hope you find some of these that you like! 😊
I need to start reading more again. I love reading so much but I’ve found lately that I have so little free time to really invest in and enjoy a good story. I used to read voraciously (sometimes more than one book at a time), and I definitely miss that. Thank you for sharing your recommendations!

That’s completely understandable, Sydney! I hope you’re able to get in some reading soon. 🙂 Wishing you the brightest week ahead, my friend!
Thanks for sharing these Ashley! I will check them out – I’m currently reading an old ‘Mary Higgins Clark’ book as I ran out of new reads, so I appreciate this inspiration!

I hope you find one that you like, Julia! 🙂
Ohhh i need to get to reading some books too! I will try The Hating Game. Also wondering if these are kid appropriate for my daughter who is a pre-teen. She is always looking for new books to read.

I think you’d love that one, Christine! 🙂 I would avoid the After series due to it being pretty graphic (similar to Fifty Shades of Grey in that department). I can’t remember anything graphic in the Twelve Dates of Christmas, so I think that one would probably be okay. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend the other two due to some graphic scenes as well as some language in 99 Percent Mine.
I’ve only read 3 books so far this year and need to step it up! These all sound like great reads! Thanks for sharing your reviews!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Three is still awesome, my friend! Thanks so much for checking out my reviews! 🙂
Haha I’m glad to see I’m not the only one to still read Christmas books in February.
Thanks for sharing all theses books with us.
Next year I’ll definitely think about getting the 12 dates of christmas/

Reading is a wonderful distraction from the world.

It truly is!
Oooh, 90 Percent Mine sounds like a fun read!

Le Stylo Rouge
It really was! I think you’d love it, Ashley!
You’ve been reading so much! I think you would adore The Match by Sarah Adams – I haven’t read her other books, but I think they’re very you. <3 The Ex Talk is also so, so good by Rachel Lynn Solomon!
I want to read much more, but I am doing quite well from last year, haha! I will absolutely add that to my list and I’ll try to read it next. I’ll check out The Ex Talk, too, friend! 🙂
