Most of us are stuck inside for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus. Why don’t we take that time to get rid of things that aren’t serving us well?
As horrific as this virus is, it gives us the unique opportunity to slow down and really think about what we want in life.
Some questions you can ask yourself:
- What is serving you well today?
- What has been doing you a disservice?
- Is there something that you wish you were doing, but aren’t?
Answering these questions will help you gain more perspective on what your current life looks like, and if there are any changes you would like to implement.
I’ve included a few ways to reset during quarantine that I hope will help you in your journey to becoming the best version of yourself.
Do a Virtual Detox
Get rid of any social media apps, games, messages in your inbox, etc. that aren’t serving you well.
Take time to go through your phone and look at the apps you have installed. Ditch the ones that you haven’t used in awhile, and carefully examine the ones that you have been using often.
Ask yourself the following:
- How does this app make me feel?
- Is it an overall negative or positive response?
If you have an app that is making you feel bad (Instagram is notorious for this sometimes!), then delete it.
You can always come back to it later if you choose to, and it’s a healthier and more positive place to be for you.
Start Your Spring Cleaning
While this isn’t a new concept for any of us, it can sometimes be hard to find the time to get all of our Spring Cleaning done. However, now that we are stuck inside for the most part, why not get started?
When your surroundings are cluttered, you tend to feel cluttered. Likewise, when you have a fresh, clean, organized space, you tend to feel more put together.
My dear friend Patty from The List Mom has a fantastic, comprehensive post for how to get your spring cleaning done. I loved it so much that I’m starting to follow it today!
You can check out her Spring Cleaning Guide here!
I have no doubt you’ll find your post as helpful as I did, and be sure to check out her other posts while you’re there. 🙂
Focus on Your Personal Growth
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: some things are just good for your soul!
Did you ever read a book or listen to an inspiring podcast and just feel like you’re on top of the world? Or maybe it’s more like you feel motivated and that you can finally start achieving your goals.
Whatever the feeling, it is so important to devote time to self-development. There are always ways that we can grow, and nurture our spirit.
I know how easy it is to get sucked into binge watching a favorite tv show or playing a game on our phone, but I can promise you that if you devote even a short time. You can even start with 15 minutes, and work your way up to an hour, each day – you will see and feel the difference, friend!
Here are some ideas, but there are many more ways to develop your personal growth:
- Read your Bible
- Meditate first thing in the morning
- Speaking of mornings, create a routine that works for you and sets you up for success
- Listen to an inspiring podcast (I love Rise by Rachel Hollis and Lara Casey’s Cultivate Your Life podcast)
- Read a self-development book
- Keep and write in a gratitude journal
- Spend time in your planner with your goals (make sure you have specific instructions on how to achieve them)
I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a few ways to reset during quarantine! I know this is a difficult time for you and I am so sorry things are the way that they are right now. But please remember, this too shall pass. It doesn’t feel like it’s ever going to end or get better, but it will!
You can be a bright light in an often too-dim world. Be the best you that you can be. 🙂
Take this unique opportunity to really look at who and what is important to you, and what you want to accomplish in this life. You can do anything you set your mind to, and now is the best time to start creating the roadmap to making your dreams come true.
I believe in you, always! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you just need a little support, or some help planning your dream goals!
Let’s Chat!
How are you handling this difficult time?
Is there something you’ve been doing to stay positive or be in a better mood?
Have you started Spring Cleaning yet?
Christine Kong says
I definitely have to start on my spring cleaning. I’ve been doing my kids’ stuff a little but really need to tackle mine. I keep putting it off saying we have more time at home, but know I just need to dive in. Thanks for the inspo!
xoxo,
Christine

I totally get that! I have no doubt once you dive in, you’ll get it knocked out in no time! 🙂
I’ve been spring cleaning and practicing my personal growth.

Absolutely, Gemma! It is really refreshing to take a little break.
Oh yes to this post, Ashley. I’m doing most of this. I’m in the process of sorting out my closet and dreading it. Too many things and can’t even decide. Wish me luck! Lol!!
Have a lovely weekend, beautiful friend. 🙂

Good luck, my dear friend! 🙂 I have no doubt that you’ve got this!! So happy that you’re doing most of this and taking care of YOU, that’s the main thing!
I liked the post, but I confess that laziness “speaks much louder”, but without a doubt I will have to do these cleanings in my life, whether virtual or material 🙂

🙂 I get that, Helena! It sure does. It takes a lot to power through and override that feeling/thought sometimes, but also, it’s important to remember to take time to relax and just let yourself do nothing for awhile.
These are such a great tips. In this quarantine time I clean all shelf in my apartment and find so many things that I completely forgot that I have.

Yes, friend!! I’m with you. There have been things I’ve searched for and then forgot I was looking for it, only to somehow find it during my spring/fall cleaning, haha. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to drop a comment! 🙂
I did two of the three things you said! I’ll try to do a digital detox next week… i hopefully I manage to accomplish!

That’s awesome, Eli! I hope all three are treating you well. I have no doubt you can do anything you set your mind to, friend! Let me know how it goes. 🙂
Spring cleaning and sticking to a routine the Morning really did it for me. This Week hit me a little harder than the previous one, but overall I found th things that I needed to keep me safe and sane.

Such great ways to reset.

Same here, Margot! 🙂 Thanks so much for reading and hope that all is well with you!
I’ve completely taken the pressure off myself of having to be “productive” all the time but its actually made me for productive. As for spring cleaning we’ve been doing a deep clean and declutter of my mother in laws house.
That’s wonderful! It really does help to take that burden off your shoulders, as it can make things so much harder to get through when you feel like you constantly have to be doing something. That’s so sweet of your to help your mother-in-law!
I‘m detoxing from social media for a few weeks now and stopped posting myself. It can really help to relax more 🙂
Have a great new week gorgeous
That’s awesome, Tiziana! 🙂 I hope you’re having the best week!
These are such great tips! I have been working on my personal growth and decluttering (physically and mentally).
Thanks for sharing!

Love all your personal growth ideas! We all could use a reset sometimes. Thanks for all this inspiration!
https://www.kathrineeldridge.com
Thank you so much, Kathrine! You are absolutely right, it’s truly a necessity every now and then. 😉
These are some good tips. I’ve done the spring cleaning, reading, but I might have a problem with the virtual detox. Although it’s only from 9 to 10pm. Then I’m done.
That’s awesome, Heather! 🙂 Hey, that’s great if it’s only for an hour a day! So many of us tend to get caught up in checking it on and off all day that we get sort of sucked into this negativity sometimes. You’re doing wonderful!
So appreciate the positivity here. I’m trying to look on the silver lining and take this time for personal betterment and self care. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Aww, I appreciate you, Rocio! Thank you so much and I’m so happy you’ve found this helpful. 🙂
I already did my Spring cleaning and it somewhat made me feel relaxed and relieved to find few pieces that I’ve been looking for quite sometime already. At least I have something to keep me busy from everything that makes me worry.
Stay safe! 🙂

Couldn’t agree more, Mariann! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment!
I really love the idea of a virtual detox- I’ve noticed that there are some forms of social media I’m just not feeling, and it’s been nice to have a break. Delete ’em and move on!

Love, love, love this comment! You are so right, Ashley. 🙂
This is a great post! Thanks for including my Spring Cleaning Guide! I also love the virtual detox! I have found that I am spending less time on social media and getting more things done around my house and it feels really good 🙂
Thank you SO much, Patty! 🙂 It was truly my pleasure to include your post. It’s amazing and I’ve shared it with my momma, and anyone who’s mentioned spring cleaning. It can be a really daunting task, but you’ve made it so simple and easy to follow. I agree with you on social media, friend! 🙂
This is so important! It can be so hard to reset at the moment, but definitely something we all need to do!
Tay | Today With Tayla
Agreed, Tay! It can be the most difficult time when we are all stuck indoors and just want things to go back to the way they used to be. But taking a pause and hitting the rest button will no doubt make us happier and healthier. 🙂
During this time I’ve been focusing a lot on my self growth. So important to me!

Thank you so much, Ann! 🙂
Some great tips on how to reset during quarantine and get ready for post quarantine life. We’ve been deep cleaning and de-cluttering the mother in laws home and in March I took a 30 day social media detox. Both things have been equally good for my mental health. I’m also learning french and doing brain games daily to keep my mind active.
Thank you so much! You are keeping busy, my dear friend! So sweet of you for helping your mother-in-law, I’m sure she appreciates that so much. I love that you’re doing a social media detox, as well as learning a new language! It’s been on my list of to-do’s lately, and I definitely want to carve out time for that this month.
Love this post! So many great ideas for how to reset and be productive during this time!
Thank you so much, Rebecca! 🙂
Yes for many people it is time to be more introspective. One friend of mine said to me it was a wake up call for her, not sure what she meant by that as did not explain further and we had to get off the phone but I could not relate. To me having this virus and the situation it created be personal wake up call is a luxury. I already do all the things people do in quarantine. I already look inward and have questioned things.
This is not a wake up call for ME but more of the same. I was laid off long before the virus and #fakenews the economy was not so hot to begin with. Now it will be even harder to find a job. My friend who said this lucky she still has a job and can work from home. Also so many people died in particular here in NY. I feel like it is just a matter of time before I find out someone I use to know: a friend or college I lost touch has passed away. Really sad, the long term effects of the economy is going to be bad. I already experienced this twice before in the early 2000’s on the west coast b/c the dot.com implosion and 911, the moving back to NY in 2008 only to experience it AGAIN–Bad economy which took years and years to get better and now again. So no, not a wake up call, just more of the same.
I just do my best to take one day at time and try not to get overwhelmed. And yeah with social media if I never went on IG again I could care less. I hate FB and I am never on that platform and once it bough IG it went down hill and I feel now about IG the way I do about FB and its founder MZ I like none of them lol. I prefer blogs, and YT at least on YT there is real interaction and can learn things there too. IG is just “look at me, look at me” and hawking products…

I feel for you, my dear friend! While I likely fall in your friend’s perspective, because this has helped me to realize what’s most important and what I truly want in my new-normal, I can definitely see your perspective from this with what you’ve gone through. I hate that you’ve been laid off even before this quarantine. I cannot imagine struggling to find a job, especially during this difficult time. I will be praying that things get better for you! I think it’s wonderful that you’ve been looking inward all along and taken the time to question things. Those are so important, and I know they are going to serve as a great foundation for you as time goes on.
Being in New York during this quarantine would be so frightening. You have been through so many tragedies, and now this one. I have to believe that better things are ahead though, and especially for people like you, who are working hard and have focused on your personal development.
That’s the best thing you can do, friend, is to take it one day at a time. I imagine all of this gets overwhelming often. But just know that there’s only so much you can control, and focus on just that. Good things are coming, and again, I will be praying hard for your situation to get better.
I think I have a love/hate relationship with Instagram, haha, but I do want to work on it for my blog. I believe I can post some inspiring, positive things that will hopefully touch some people. That’s my overall goal. The interaction is so important, and I think that’s what we’ve lost with a lot of social media channels. They are called social media channels, yet, you’re right – they’re often just selling machines. I suppose it’s like everything, there are some really great accounts on platforms, and then there are some not-so-great ones.
Wishing you all the best, Allie! I’m so happy you took time to write this comment and feel free to reach out anytime! 🙂
These are such great ways to make quarantine a meaningful and transformative time! I love the virtual detox idea. I have been unsubscribing to lots of promotional emails in my inbox to stores I haven’t shopped at in years! I also got rid of 3 bags of clothing I no longer loved! Meditating in the morning is such a great idea as well
Jill
https://jilliancecilia.com/
Thank you so much, Jill! 🙂 All of those are so wonderful!! I did an inbox detox a month or so ago, and it helped so much to unsubscribe to all of those emails. Plus, I’m less tempted to buy things I really don’t need because they’re not popping up at me everyday.
These are good tips! I’d like to have more time to do things like this when we are isolating at home, but with trying to help the boys do school work remotely and working from home myself, our days are so busy. Some fun moments, but busy all the same! 🙂 Afternoons when my work is done and their schoolwork is done are usually just tidying up the mess they made when I was on a call, haha! Sometimes we play a game together or do some baking before dinner, but I don’t get time to just sit and spend to myself – I’d rather have that family time 🙂
Hope you are having a great week 🙂
I cannot imagine, friend! I have no doubt you’re doing amazing, and cherishing all of this time with your kids at home. 🙂 I can tell that you are such a good mommy!
My week went well, and I hope yours did too! Trying to savor all of this weekend time before things get a little hectic this coming week.
You have made some very important points here! I wanna reset during quarantine using these tips! Nice Post! Have a great day!

You are so right, Melody! It has all of the answers, we just have to take time to read it, and spend time with the Lord.
As much as the quarantine sucks, I think it has been a great way for everyone to figure out what is important to them and be thankful for the life many of us live. For me, the quarantine has been a great time to work on the house and focus more on my own personal care.
Ashlee | https://www.maybeafterbrunch.com
I completely agree with you, friend. It has certainly been an eye-opener for me and what I really want my new normal to look like after all of this gets better. I’m SO happy you’ve had time to work on your new home. It looks so beautiful in your photos, and I’m still so happy for you guys!!
I really hope I can be productive during this quarantine. https://kaynuli.com/albina-dyla-dresses/
You can do it, friend! Just write a list of what you’d like to accomplish, create a roadmap to making those items happen, and check them off as you go. 🙂
