“What do you want to write about?” is the equivalent to “What do you want for dinner?” for bloggers. While we are creators, each of us have times where we are clueless on what type of content we should create. More specifically, for my fellow lifestyle bloggers, it can be tough to come up with lifestyle blog post ideas sometimes.
I’ve created this ultimate guide just for you, friend! I understand it can be difficult to constantly produce new ideas and fresh content. While you can search Pinterest for blog post ideas and you’ll surely come up with some great ones, I wanted to try to make this more comprehensive than you are used to.
I am not only giving you a super long list of blog post ideas, but I’m also sharing with you how to come up with the best new content ideas.

How Do You Get Ideas for Your Blog?
There are many ways that you get ideas for lifestyle blog post ideas! The next time that you struggle to find something to write about, be sure to check out some of the methods below to see what works best for you.
Ask Your Audience
Your number one priority as a blogger is to add value with your content for your readers. The keywords in the previous sentence are “for your readers.” Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask them what they want to hear from you!
If you’re wondering how exactly you might go about doing this, here are some easy ideas:
- Write an email solely asking for your readers’ feedback (or include it in a weekly email you typically send out)
- Ask them in a blog post (be sure to make it noticeable as some readers tend to skim posts)
- On Instagram, ask your readers within a post or in your Instagram stores
Research Your Competition
Learning what your fellow bloggers in your niche are talking about and ranking well for on Google is an excellent way to get new blog post ideas.
Caution: Do not copy anyone’s work. What you want to focus on here are the keywords that they’re using – those are fair game for anyone to write about.
A free way to do this is to go to Uber Suggest and type in the website address of your competition. It will show you what keyword they’re ranking for and their top SEO pages. You can research from there if it’s something you’re interested in and has received a lot of traffic.
You always want to strive to be as thorough as possible. Find ways to make your posts that absolute best they can be for someone looking for the topic you’re writing about.
Keep a Running List of Ideas
Often times, we get ideas out of nowhere that could be useful for a blog post. Then instead of writing them down right away, we get busy and lose track of those ideas.
A great way to always have something to write about is to keep all of your ideas in one central place.
For me, I like to keep a private WordPress draft just for my blog post ideas. Some other places you could keep track of your blog post ideas include:
- Planner
- Journal
- In your phone’s notes app
Check Pinterest
Pinterest is probably something that you check every day and use for your blog. A lot of people tend not to realize that Pinterest is actually a search engine, not really a social media platform.
There are 291 million active users on Pinterest every month (per first quarter of 2019 from Sprout Social)! You can get tons of ideas for what to write about not only by searching for “lifestyle blog post ideas,” but also by seeing what others are searching for.
Let’s say you knew that you wanted to write about “how to be happier,” but weren’t really sure where to start or what you should include.
I searched for “how to be happier” in the snippet above, and you can see there are color-coded tabs underneath my search box. Those are keywords that people are searching for related to what you’ve written in the search box!
You can use these keywords to form a title, and give you a better idea of what people are looking for when you cover this topic. You always want to cover topics that people are searching for, and be sure that you’re adding value to your readers. This not only helps your SEO, but truly helps you to get loyal readers who will want to come back for more great content.
That’s a wrap on this post, friends! I hope that you have an amazing start to your week. It’s a brand new month, full of new, magical opportunities just waiting for you to scoop them up!
